Shuffles School of Dance opened in October 2002, since then the school has gone from strength to strength. Back in 2002 I started with just 2 classes on a Saturday morning, a baby class and a junior class, teaching tap, ballet, and freestyle. All too soon these classes were full, and the original students had improved leaps and bounds. So it wasn't long after opening that I had to increase to 3 classes on Saturdays. We started a new baby class, then had a junior and senior class. Everything was going great. We started performing at local fates, and took our first IDTA examinations, which all the students passed with flying colours. But again the classes were full so we had to expand. I started new classes on Mondays and Tuesdays. and introduced a Street Jazz Class into the timetable. We also started Adult classes in Tap and Freestyle which have proven to be very popular.
I then decided to expand further, I want to make Shuffles into a stage school, so last year we started singing classes, which have been to be a big hit with the students. My next challenge is to start a musical theatre group, incorporating dance, drama and singing, so watch this space for details....
