Well the first week now over, and Shuffles have got off to a fantastic start.
opening the festival for Shuffles was one of our most dedicated students, Paige stepped out once again to perform in the solo song section, this years choice was "reflection" from the hit Mulan. Paige waited nervously side of stage with me, but there was no need, she walked out on that stage full of confidence, and performed beautifully. Paige earned herself 4th place with 83 points. Out of 13 competetors this was fantastic - well done.
Next up was our youngest competetor - Danni. Her first dance was a tap number to Animal Crackers. Danni had the audience and judge captivated with her huge grin, and did not miss a step - and even went back for an extra bow! Danni earned herself a silver medle. Next up was her sister Paige b. The first of our "own arrangement" performances. It's hard enough stepping out on that stage with a number taught by a teacher, but all the more worthy when you have choreographed the routine yourself. Paige danced brilliantly and certainly pulled something out of the hat. She too walked away with a silver medal.
Next up was Paige A again. This time with her tap number. thankfully this year there was no false starts with the music. Paige made this routine look efforless and walked away with 4th place again.
Last dance of the day for Shuffles was a lyrical duet with Paige A and Amy. This was the first lyrical routine we have entered in a competition, and the first duet Paige and Amy have performed together. The competition was high, but the girls stepped out on stage and looked comfortable together. Their dance (choregraphed by Fran) was only finished last week due to Amy being off sick in the run up to the festival, but we need not have worried, the girls looked every bit profesional and well rehearsed, and walked away with 4th place.
