Wow. What a fantastic Start to 4 weeks of competitions.
The duets all danced brilliantly, and although no medals were won this time, all got 80 marks, Could have been gold or silver placing on any other day. But the groups were large and the competition stiff. But as usual the Shuffles students made me proud. They all put up a sterling performance and are all winners to me.
Next was the turn of the first of our troupes with the Saturday senior troups. They had 2 dances in the same section (Open Inter Troup) First up was a tap number to the Abba favorite Waterloo, followed by a funky jazz routine to carwash. They were against 2 other schools, the first a young team with a dance to Hey Mickey - complete with pom poms, and a fab lyrical troup. But as usual the Shuffles team managed to pull that little something extra out the hat. Both dances were performed brilliantly (even if everyone wasn't quite ready at the start of car wash) and the girls walked away with 1st place for Waterloo and 2nd place for Carwash. Well I certainly couldn't ask for more than that. Well done all. I am so proud of you.
oooh! we're nervous!
What d'you think of my make-up?

22nd October
This week saw the turn of Paige B, with a tap solo to Michael Jackson, Paige impressed the judge and the wow'ed the audience with her fast and funky tap moves and walked away with a well deserved 2nd place.
Later that day was the turn of the solo modern novice dancers, This was Martin, Chloe and Shannon. All 3 danced fantastically, with Martin bringing the house down with his version of "so you wann be a boxer" and certainly had everyone laughing at is boxer facial experssions.
Again this was a very large section, with some fabulous competitors - I wouldn't have wanted to be the adjudicator. But the Shuffles students walked away with their heads held high with a very well derserved 4th place for Martin and joint 5th for the girls. Well done all 3 of you.
Later was the turn of Paige A, who very bravely agreed to enter the solo song section. With the singing teacher leaving earlier this year and us yet to find a replacement it was left to Paige to practice on her own, with help only from Fran myself and her very dedicated mum. Paige steppped out on stage looking fantastic in her new outfit bought specially for the occasion. After a shaky start due to a bad case of "first night nerves" Paige found her voice and belted out a fantastic version of 'a whole new World'. Paige walked away with 4th place, and full of excitement over the song she wants to do next year - Well done Paige.
Saturday 29th October
3rd week, and Shuffles are still working hard. This week our first competetor was Gracee, who is only 5 years old. But Gracee stepped out on the stage looking every bit the true profesional. She looked fantasic in her Americal style outfit, and amazed everyone with her dance to Glen Miller's 'In the Mood'. Gracee walked away with a silver medal and very proud parents.
Later was the turn of Paige A again, this time showing off her tap routine. Unfortunately a problem with the Stereo meant 2 false starts for Paige which was very off putting. I can't imagine how nervous she must have felt after that. But no one else would have noticed, and Paige performed beautifully.
Lastly for this week it was the turn of the troupes. 3 troupes were entered in the same category - Inter Large troup. First up was the Monday primary class with I love to boogie, with our very own 'Boxer' Martin A. as the starring role as Billy Elliot himself. the girls started fantasically, with everyone beaming smiles out at the audience. their timing was faultless and everyone came off stage immensley pleased with themselves. As Morgan, Jo and Ronni ran off to change for Grease Lightin another troupe stepped on to the stage this time was the turn of the Tuesday senior girls with Lady Marmalade from the film Moulin Rouge. The girls looked amazing in their stunning red + black outfits. They danced brilliantly, especially Daisy who had to step into the dance at the last minute following Rebekha having to pull out due to a fractured finger.
Next up was Grease lightnin, As always the Saturday Primary class performed this dance faultlessly, with everyone looking as though they were thoroughly enjoying themselves.
After waiting anxiously for all the other troupes to dance it was time to return to the stage for the results. The adjudicator started off by saying how difficult this section was to judge as every troupe was so good. But Shuffles walked away with a Bronze medal and 81 marks for Grease lightnin, and a very close joint 4th place for Lady Marmalade and I love to Boogie bith getting 80 marks - Well done everyone it was a gerat section.
Saturday 5th November
Only 1 competitor left for Shuffles.
Good Luck Paige B, in Solo modern, medalist section.
